Rabbi Sa’ar Khai Shaked is Director of the Abrahamic Movement South Africa, Rabbi, educator, and peace and reconciliation practitioner. Ordained as Rabbi in Jerusalem, he has devoted more than two decades to building relationships across religious, cultural, and political divides in both Israel-Palestine and Southern Africa.
Before relocating to South Africa in 2013, Rabbi Shaked served as Executive Director of the Sulha Peace Project, co-chaired the Education Committee of the Israeli-Palestinian NGO Forum, taught at the bilingual village of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, and participated in various interfaith and civil society initiatives, including the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel, Rabbis for Human Rights, and All for Peace Radio.
Since settling in South Africa, he has continued this vocation through rabbinic leadership, education, interfaith engagement, and community development. His work seeks to connect religious and traditional leadership, civic institutions, political parties, scholars, and local communities, drawing on the South African experience of dialogue, Ubuntu, and reconciliation as resources for the wider Abrahamic world.
