The Abrahamic Movement recently welcomed a senior delegation representing the Iranian opposition for a discussion on Iran’s political future and the rapidly changing dynamics of the Middle East.
The conversation examined the potential role of the Iranian opposition in shaping Iran’s future, as well as the importance of establishing political relationships and channels of communication before major political changes take place. Participants discussed how such connections could help lay the groundwork for a new regional reality and contribute to a broader political vision for the period following the current regime in Tehran.
The visit followed an announcement by Tom Wegner, Founder and Chairman of the Abrahamic Movement, concerning a related initiative connecting senior figures from the Iranian opposition with Israel’s cryptocurrency and financial technology community.
The initiative centered on the Aftab project, which has been presented as an attempt to create a legal financial mechanism enabling payments outside Iran’s state-controlled banking system. A special briefing for members of Israel’s cryptocurrency community was organized by Collider VC Fund and the Aftab project as a private, off-the-record discussion.
According to the organizers, Aftab is developing a licensed, legal financial infrastructure capable of operating according to the strictest sanctions regulations, potentially giving ordinary Iranians an alternative means of participating in the economy beyond the country’s state-controlled financial system.
For the Abrahamic Movement, the engagement reflects a broader approach of building relationships with emerging political and civic actors across the region ahead of potential political change. The goal is not simply to respond to developments after they occur, but to establish dialogue and partnerships that can help shape the foundations of a different Middle East.
